Shethority is a community created from women for women. The Founders Caity Lotz, Candice Patton and Maisie Richardson-Sellers wanted to create a place where women would be able to talk about anything and share their stories. So other people can see that they aren’t alone in their situation. Go to the www.shethority.com site to read the articles and while you’re over there check out the rest of the website, it’s great.
Anyways I originally wanted to tell you about their “question-boxes” on the Shethority Instagram stories. Often when Shethority shares a story, news or a thought, they want to know what you think about it or how you are doing. They ask different questions everytime. Most of the time the questions make me stop my life for a second to think about the answer. To truly find the authentic responds to their input I close my eyes and concentrate on the positive things. I also accept and process the negative ones and look for the bright side of it and write down my right answer. Not right in the sense of writing down, what other people would want to read. But right in the sense of me being honest with myself and being vulnerable, respectful towards myself. And that is what makes Shethority, amongst other things, special to me. Sometimes they share a few of the answers with everybody, and they have shared a few of mine as well. And that made me really happy, because that meant that my responds stood out to them, somehow. And since I knew, that my answer came from my heart, it made me happy that someone liked it.
You see if I would have lied in that moment, it would not be my true self which would have lead me to feel fake. It would have been an imaginary life of being "perfect". And let’s be honest here, nobody has a perfect life!
Honesty is one the most powerful tools in life. It can be extremly hard to use that tool but in the end it is always worth it. If you can't see the positive aspect of it, it only means that you are not done with it just yet. So keep going with your gut and common sense. And always keep in mind to reflect everything you do by taking a few minutes and deep breaths.
Be more present and I'll see you in my next piece. :)
